Preparing today’s generation of 21st century learners to succeed is essential and educators play a significant role in facilitating that success. Kamehameha Schools Distance Learning offers an opportunity for educators to build a firm foundation in integrating technology in the classroom, while learning online and through
accessing of relevant Hawaiian culture-based resources.
Goal of the Program
The A‘o Kumu Program provides educators with professional development opportunities to acquire 21st century teaching skills with a focus on accessing, integrating and developing Hawaiian culture-based learning resources.
| Ka Mole - Culture-based Online Curriculum for Educators (CBOCE) |
| This course provides access to culture-based online curricula and resources aligned to state and national standards. Extensive learning resources are available related to mālama ‘āina (caring for the land), alaka‘i (leadership) and kuleana (responsibility). |

| Ka Mole - Culture-based Resources for Teaching Modern History of Hawaii (CBRTHH) |
| Based on the online Modern Hawaiian History developed by Kamehameha Schools Distance Learning (KSDL), teachers will delve into the rich content and engage in activities that deepen their understanding of Hawaiian history, as well as gain to resources to integrate in their own classes. |

| Ke Kumu - 21st Century Technologies and Culture-based Learning Prerequiste: CBOCE must be taken prior to registering for this level. |
| This course focuses on emerging 21st century technologies while continuing to explore culture-based curricula. Participants will apply what they have learned to create and implement online resources that integrate Hawaiian culture with appropriate technologies. |
